Personal Goal Setting In 5 Easy-To-Do Steps
If you are not confident in achieving what you want today in your business or personal life, chances are you are not doing proper personal goal setting. It is not hard and you will learn how to do this in simple, proven ways. Even the experts are already using this concept.
Just recently, I read up on a book about 21 success secrets of self made millionaires. It is written by Brian Tracy a gentlemen that I respect a lot. You should also pick it up when you have the time to drop by at the local bookstore or library. Personal goal setting really is a refining process in your character. Sometimes, all it takes is for someone to walk through this process with you.
Step 1: List down the things you want to experience
Everything starts with your dream to experience something. It could be driving that sports car you always liked in your local showroom, getting sexual stares from beautiful women or even being able to spend time with your kids at home. Personal goal setting started with a desire from your heart. List down 5 things that you want to truly experience.
Step 2: Prioritize your dream
Now, I want you to highlight the number 1 desire on your list. It is important for you to be focused only on one goal. This increases the effectiveness of your personal goal setting activity. Not many people will tell you to do this because in the modern world today the trend is “multitasking”. Do not underestimate the power of focusing on one!
Step 3: Plan your tasks
You got your goal set to one. Let’s say that it is about having a healthy and sexy body. Please remember that you can make your personal goal setting to be an increase in your paycheck too. We go back to the example. List down what would you do (for instance) to achieve a nice body? It could be going to the gym, eating healthy natural foods and taking a good nights rest. Plan it and have 7 things you can do to get there.
Step 4: Set a time schedule for your tasks
The most difficult thing is to be able to stay disciplined. That’s where the crucial element of personal goal setting comes in. A time schedule. Notice that I didn’t put deadline here. The reason is that I want you to cultivate a good discipline. Consistent effort makes us become experts or people of progress. We can say here that we need to do thread mill runs for at least 30 minutes a day.
Step 5: Motivate yourself
There are times when you will become tired and discouraged about achieving your goals. Never give up though. You are just going through the natural process of personal goal setting. In order to combat this, take regular breaks or rests in between your tasks. You must mix around with friends who have achieved your goals and learn from them.
Personal goal setting can be easy if you follow the 5 steps mentioned above and really change your mentality about life. We are all human beings and the desire to increase is natural. With increase comes challenges, face them head on.
