Tips For Time Management – How to Be More Focused and Productive

Actually, time CAN’T be managed. Only activities can be managed. If we want to be more focused and productive, to make the best possible use of the time that we have – we need to manage our ACTIVITIES. That is one of the most important Tips for Time Management that I can give you.

Time seems to just FLY these days. Because of the lifestyles WE have chosen to live and the number of activities WE try to fit into every day. There’s also a lot more to distract us now, making it harder to focus on the one thing that we’re meant to be doing at any particular time.

The trick is to PLAN AHEAD. Every night, decide what you want to achieve the following day. Take a note of each task. Prioritise. Choose ONE thing which you MUST achieve – the rest will be a bonus. If it’s a large task, break it up so that it doesn’t all have to be completed in one session.

Make sure you put a note of your tasks somewhere that you will SEE it the following day. There is no point learning these tips for time management, making your notes in the evening and never looking at them again! As with any skill, time management skills must be PRACTICED.

Start with the one essential task you chose the previous evening and REFUSE to be distracted. NO checking your emails! NO YouTube!

You can do that as a treat AFTER you have completed your task. It will take your mind off your last task and clear it for the next one. I’ll allow you a quick cup of coffee too!!

Although, to be honest, you would be a lot better off drinking plenty of Water. It really does help you to keep alert and focused and is one of my tips for time management that will benefit you in other ways too. Many of us are actually dehydrated most of the time…

I don’t advise putting actual time restraints on each task to be completed. Devote as much time to the task as it requires. This is less stressful and will produce better results.
